My Trusty & Quick Skincare Routine

I'm gunna be honest, I had NO idea what to call this post at all...!! However I knew I had to do a post on these products because they are all I've been reaching for skincare wise for months and months now. I've repurchased them all at least 3 times and let's be honest when you find a good skincare routine that works for you, then why the bloody hell would you change it?????
Let's start with the morning, when I wake up I find myself reaching for this pretty much straight away and it's the Garnier Moisture Bomb Hydrating Mist. I'm not gunna lie this product is a lil pricey considering its essentially just a hydrating spray but oh my days its so good (especially when its been hot hot hot!!) It immediately lifts my skin in the morning and really does hydrate it. Also what I love is that you can spray it on top of your makeup so you can chuck it in your bag and it just refreshes your face throughout the day!
For moisturiser I use the Garnier Moisture Bomb Day Cream. This again immediately hydrates and nourishes my skin straight away, which if you're anything like me who has horrible flaky dry skin then you will love this!! I also find that using it straight after the mist works well as it cools you down and after this mini heatwave we've been having at the moment, I am ALL about that.
When it comes to the evening I find myself reaching for my trusty Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish to remove my makeup. This is everyones favourite isn't it?? I haven't stopped using it since I got it, I've gone through sooo many bottles of this. It's super quick and super easy to use but it also gives your kin a really good deep clean.
I then go in with my Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate. I feel like everyone has talked about this and I so understand why everyone raves about it. Yes it's a bit pricey but you honestly need the smallest amount so it lasts ages! I love using this in the evening as when I wake up I find it had calmed down any redness or pigmentation I had before.

Jammie Dodger Cupcakes

Considering I bake pretty much every weekend it's been agesss since I last did a recipe post!! So this weekend after looking through recipe after recipe I stumbled across these old faves of mine. They went down SO well I thought I would share them with you. I based this recipe off a trusty Cupcake Jemma one for vanilla cupcakes and just changed it slightly and added bits to make them all about Jammie Dodgers!

For the Cupcakes (makes 12):
125g Self Raising Flour
125g Caster Sugar
1/4 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
125g soft unsalted butter
2 large free range eggs
1 1/2 tablespoons of whole milk
1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract
12 Mini Jammie Dodgers

For the Buttercream
250g soft unsalted butter
500g icing sugar
around 1/2 jar of smooth strawberry or raspberry jam (used for both cupcakes and buttercream)
Mini Jammie Dodgers for decoration

For the Cupcakes
1. Start by pre heating your oven to 170 degree celsius and line a 12 hole muffin/cupcake tray with cases.
2. Sift the flour, caster sugar and bicarbonate of soda into your mixing bowl. I used my kitchen aid to mix my batter but you can always an electric whisk or a good old wooden spoon if you're really strong!
3. Add your butter and 2 eggs and then mix.
4. Add your milk and vanilla extract and then continue to mix until it is all smooth and creamy. Use a spatula to scrape down any bits on the the side.
5. Then pop one mini Jammie dodger into each case making sure its in the middle, jam side up!
6. Spoon your mixture into your cases evenly and tap the tray on a table to bang out any air.
7. Put them in the oven for around 20-22 minutes (put a skewer in the middle, if it comes out clean then they're cooked!)
For the Buttercream
1. Mix your butter on a high speed for a good 5 minutes, until it is pale in colour and very soft.
2. Then add your icing sugar (little bit at a time!) Start on a low speed and gradually speed it up.
3. Next, in a separate bowl using a whisk, beat the jam until it is really smooth and almost like a liquid.
4. Add your jam to your buttercream really slowly, bit by bit, mixing it until your buttercream is a pale pink. (only use about half as you will use the rest in a minute!!)

1. Once your cupcakes are out of the oven and cooled, using an apple corer (or anything that will make a similar shaped hole) remove the centre of each cupcake.
2. Put the leftover jam into a small piping bag and snip the end off. Use this to fill the holes you've just made in your cupcakes!
3. Then put your icing into a bigger piping bag (I used a wilton 1M tip but it's up to you what you use!) and pipe your buttercream onto your cupcakes, making sure to cover the jam.
4. Then decorate them how you like! I used some more mini Jammie dodgers but you can always crumble little chunks on top or even just lay one big jammie dodger to cover the buttercream if you want too!

Mid Year Goals

I know everyone is saying this right now but how the hell are we near the end of June already???? I mean seriously????
Anyway... I've never been one to set myself targets or goals to reach by a certain time but after seeing so many people doing it and actually really benefiting from them I thought I should really give it a try so here we go...

1. Stop neglecting my blog
This year without meaning to I've started to neglect things I really love doing. Like this blog. I absolutely love everything about blogging. From creating ideas, taking photos for posts and actually sitting down to write I love love love it yet for some reason I just can't find time for it and I hate that! So that is definitely my number one, I have to start putting some time aside to work on this little space.

2. Work on my photography
Besides this little blog, another one of my loves is definitely photography. Whether its just snapping away on a day out or actually planning shoots and going through with them I love it. I've recently started to really work hard at it so hopefully soon I'll start to improve and have photos that I've actually taken and adore.

3. Pass my driving test
Now this is a touchy subject. I've been learning to drive for what feels like forever and had 3 different instructors but for very different reasons I'm still not ready for my test yet but I really want to be. Since I've started again with my third instructor I've really picked up confidence and have found new motivation to actually do it so fingers crossed hopefully it will happen soon!!

Summer Makeup Lovin'

If I'm being honest I'm totally not one for wearing a full on face of makeup in summer just because it's to bloody hot (especially with this mini heatwave we seem to be having recently... I mean the last thing I want to be doing is sitting in front of a mirror for god knows how long for it to just drip off or go patchy anyway!) Recently I've been loving this mix of products because all in all it literally takes 10 minutes max to put on my face and that I bloomin love.
Starting with the L'Oreal Paris Cushion Foundation I use a real techniques buffing brush and just do a light layer of this all over making sure to take it down my neck. This foundation is such a light coverage that it might not be for everyone but for me its just enough. It still hides any redness I have but doesn't look heavy or cakey. The best bit though is even if gets patchy or comes off in the hot weather, its so easy to apply you can just throw it in your bag and retouch it throughout the day without stressing to much.
I then go in with a quick and easy bronzer. I either reach for my trusty Charlotte Tilbury Bronze & Glow or my Benefit Hoola. I use my Real Techniques Bold Metal 301 brush with either product if I want a quick contour but for an all over bronze I'll use my Bobbi Brown Face Blender Brush which makes it soooo unbelievably easy.
I then go in with highlighter, if I'm using my Bronze & Glow I'll stick to the highlighter in that but to go my with Hoola I use the theBalm Mary Lou Manizer Luminizer to add a little glow on my cheekbones and down my nose. You HAVE to have some sort of highlight going on in summer whether its subtle or bold you know!?
For eyes if I'm being really lazy most days I just slap on some mascara (normally my new fave Maybelline Big Shot) and I'm good to go but if I do have a spare few minutes I use my Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerise in 'Bette' for a quick wash of golden shimmer. I love these cream shadows because no matter how hot it gets, they last all day and don't crease at all! I then sometimes just blend it out with a shade in my Zoeva Matte palette but its not essential.
